Gardening in general but raspberry picking in particular are my favored forms of meditation. I’m always contending with those prickly stems as I reach for plump red berries hidden deep in the patch.  That means placing my hands with extreme care and strategy so I don’t get scratched.  Any lapses in mindfulness are ouchy!

Another lesson from the raspberry patch is how much new fruit I discover by even a slight shift or movement. I can suddenly see what I missed before, just by looking from a different direction or moving one or two branches aside.

Who knew that picking raspberries could yield so much wisdom along with the tasty fruit?
