Perimenopause: the transition from menstrual cycling to not. Every woman experiences it. And guess what? so do their families, especially if hormones are out of balance and women are cranky and unhappy. Since perimenopause can take up to ten years, its best for everyone if the transition is smooth!
How do you know you might be perimenopausal?
- You are between the ages of 35-50
- Changes in period, heavier, lighter, more cramps and clots
- Changes in length of cycle, shorter, longer, spotting in between
- Severe mood swings
- Anxiety and depression, especially if new
- Hot flashes and night sweats
- Dry tissues: vaginal, eyes, nose, mouth
- Creaky joints (estrogen is a lubricant and as it decreases so does lubrication)
- Loss of libido
