Tips:

  1. You can make your own trail mix with dried fruit, nuts, and jerky.
  2. When buying jerky, look for grass-fed with minimal processing. Be sure that it does not contain nitrates/nitrites.
  3. Protein shake can be mixed in a used water bottle. Take a scoopful in a baggie and add to water. You can also pack almond or coconut milk in a single-sized package to add to the powder.
  4. Nut butters come in a variety of flavors. Choose any kind you like as long you do not have allergies.
  5. If you have a food sealer, you can make up packs before leaving.
  6. For children, ask what they like and add their favorites to their own pack. Dark chocolate chips, macadamia nuts, and dried bananas make an awesome snack! You can even add some turkey jerky just for fun!!
  7. Be sure to keep hydrated!!
