Elevated cholesterol levels are thought to be associated with a higher risk of heart attacks, strokes, and heart disease such as atherosclerosis.  Diet and lifestyle play a role in preventing heart disease but there are other, often overlooked, factors, that can be addressed.

Some of these include:

  • low thyroid function
  • nutritional deficiencies such as niacin, Vita C, B5
  • stress
  • genetic tendencies

Our goal is to avoid the use of medications or to significantly reduce them, while maintaining optimal heart function.

Blood Pressure

Elevated blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart attacks or strokes. It is extremely important to maintain normal blood pressures consistently.  There can be many causes of high blood pressure and it can often be managed without medication.

Here are some of the causes of high blood pressure that we investigate here at BeWell Associates:

  • Excessive stress, specifically, high cortisol
  • Hidden food allergies
  • Imbalanced electrolytes
  • Nutritional deficiencies, such as B6, COQ 10 or magnesium
  • Heavy metal toxicity
  • Omega 3:6 imbalance
  • Overweight
  • Smoking
  • Excess caffeine
